Awards
Chair, Open
Creates, reviews, revises, and administers the state awards program. Involves researching other PTA award programs, monitoring National awards, sometimes asked to review awards from other states. Collaborates with Membership, Field Service, Convention, and other committees as needed.
Children's Advocacy
Chair, Jenn Garland
Otherwise known as the Advocacy Committee, monitors legislation and activity state and nationwide. Coordinates and operates Advocacy Day events, outreach, alerts, and all communication related to Advocacy.
Communications and Public Relations

Coordinates social media, publications, presentations and interactions with the public. Also works with branding.
Convention Site Selection
Chair, Tonya Whitehead
Researches and coordinates site selection for the Convention including negotiating contracts.
Convention Management

Plans and oversees the Annual Convention. Coordinates with Awards, and other committees as necessary.
Diversity & Inclusion

Researches, develops, and administers diversity & inclusion programs, initiatives, etc.
Family Engagement

Develops Family Engagement programs, resources and plans FE events.
Field Service

Provides support to Units and Councils, including offering training, coaching on Standards of Affiliation, information on programs, services, and additional information from the state and National PTAs.

Acts as a liaison and primary contact on Federal issues and communications as well as National PTA.
Fund Development

Establishes non-dues revenue strategy beyond membership dues.
Health & Wellness

Researches and develops resources on the topics of health and wellness, including programs, services, etc.
Kinship Care

Researches and develops resources on the topics surrounding kinship care (the care of children by relatives or, in some jurisdictions, close family friends (often referred to as fictive kin).
Leadership Development

Researches, plans and executes the training program for the state membership and works to develop a leadership pipeline.
Local Bylaws Committee,

Annually reviews local bylaws templates and makes appropriate changes to align with State and National bylaws.

Researches, coordinates, publicizes state-level activity for the Reflections programs including informing local chairpersons on program changes, and developing the state recognition event.

Resolutions

Researches, composes, and presents to the Board of Directors position statements that need to be memorialized by the Convention in the form of resolutions.
Strategic Planning

Develops long-term vision, planning, and goals to increase reach and impact of the mission.
Youth

Develops, coordinates, and administers programs for the education, participation, encouragement of youth.
Board Committees
These are committees comprised solely of Board Members/Officers appointed by the Board of Directors. These committees typically function on the same cycle as officer terms but may be reviewed and reappointed at any time.
Budget and Finance
Chair, Treasurer, Meredith Blixt
Creates, oversees, reviews state budget including providing audit information to the Convention and regular updates to the Board of Directors.
Bylaws and Standing Rules
Chair, Secretary, Jenna McMechan
Reviews and corrects the bylaws for the association. Reviews, suggests, revises job descriptions, committee descriptions. Reviews and suggests changes to the state Standing Rules. Makes bylaw recommendations to the Board of Directors and presents the approved recommendations to the Convention body for ratification.
Crisis Management
Chair, Tracey Troy
Oversight of short-term response to state-impacted response including national disasters, violence in schools, and global pandemics.
Headquarters
Chair, President, Tracey Troy
Typically the same committee as the Budget & Finance Committee. Oversees the management contract and/or the headquarters facility.
Specialized Committees (ad hoc)
These are special committees comprised of specific volunteers appointed by the Board of Directors. These committees may be temporary, perpetual, or have unique term limits.
Nominating Committee

Committee elected by the Convention body (vacancies appointed by the Board of Directors) to vet appropriate candidates for Officer, Board, and Committee positions. 3-year term.
Scholarship
Chair, Barb Blanchard
Committee comprised of Past Presidents to review the applications for the Fran Anderson Scholarship.
These are hybrid committees comprised of Board Members/Officers and volunteers appointed by the Board of Directors. Committees are appointed for one year terms unless otherwise specified.
We value input from students as we focus on our mission. Being involved in PTA at the State level offers students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, communicate their ideas, and effectively contribute to their schools and communities.
